Laurie Barrett - Founder, Principal Writer & Content Strategist

The Social Bark was founded in the early days of COVID, when many small businesses suddenly found themselves disconnected from the customers and communities they had worked hard to build. In that moment, clear and authentic communication became essential - not as a marketing tactic, but as a lifeline.

What began as a way to help businesses adapt has grown into a long-term practice rooted in writing, strategy, and thoughtful storytelling. Five years later, The Social Bark continues to partner with small businesses that value meaningful connection in an ever-evolving digital landscape.

At its core, The Social Bark is built on a simple belief: strong brands are shaped by authentic voice, enduring relationships, and well-crafted content. I bring the perspective of a writer, the discipline of a strategist, and the polish of corporate experience - balanced by a deep understanding of the commitment it takes to build something from the ground up.

Rooted in New England and inspired by its quiet confidence and enduring craftsmanship, I bring a measured, writing-led approach to every project - favoring substance over noise and longevity over trends. Whether shaping brand voice, developing content, or guiding overall direction, my focus remains on communication that feels considered, credible, and true.

The Social Bark exists to help people and brands show up with confidence, connect with purpose, and build a presence that lasts.

Sir Winston Finley - Chief Canine Officer.

Born on the 4th of July, 2024, SWF joined The Social Bark in the Fall of 2024. Hailing from Vermont, he brings a fresh attitude and a feisty approach to the business, although we often find him napping during work hours. Admittedly, he’s on a performance plan until further notice.

Lover of tennis balls, marrow bones, and ALL THE THINGS OUTSIDE, Winston will work for treats and car rides to the park.

IN LOVING MEMORY OF OUR BRANCH MANAGER

MS. LILLY TUUKKA ❤️

Born in Bristol, Maine and named with a nod to former Bruins goalie Tuukka Rask, Ms. Lilly Tuukka was more than a team member - she was the heart and founder of The Social Bark.

Lilly held the title of Branch Manager (and yes, she took it literally) until her passing in February 2024, after a courageous battle with liver cancer. She was nine years old, and all heart until the very end.

Our story began when she was just four weeks old—ribboned in orange, impossibly tiny, and already in charge. She wasn’t exactly born to retrieve (I fetched most of the balls), but she was born to lead - with joy, grit, and 4:30am wake-up calls. Thanks to Lilly, I learned to greet the sunrise, love the woods, and find peace in the quiet places.

She inspired hikes, road trips, late-night edits, and early-morning brainstorms. Whether we were chasing trails in Massachusetts or wandering Vermont backroads, Lilly was my co-pilot in everything that mattered.

“You think dogs will not be in heaven? I tell you, they will be there long before any of us.” - Robert Louis Stevenson

She wasn’t just the best dog. She was the bestest dog.

The Social Bark will always carry her spirit: loyal, curious, a little stubborn, and full of passion.

Lover of sticks, treats, swimming, and her human Mom. She is profoundly missed. ❤️
